Great for interval training with a view and sounds of the Limassol sea.
Feel the need for speed? On holiday in Limassol during your Marathon training programme and need to get a track workout done? We have a 300m public running track opposite the beach that you would never know exists unless someone took you there. Even many local residents don’t know that we have such a thing in Limassol.
I use it often for the team Marathon training programmes that I coach. The track is rarely used by anyone in the mornings, it’s fantastically located in the heart of Limassol with a public car park just 100m from the track. Best of all it’s just meters from the sea, after our track sessions we like to cool off with a dip in the sea, highly recommended. Even if it’s a barefoot walk in the sea after your hard track session, your body will thank you for it with a faster recovery time.
Also recommended is a walk up the footpath bridge which is partly built above the running track. From the top of the bridge you get an incredible panoramic view of the Limassol sea. If you’re there early enough you can witness a breathtaking sunrise from the bridge, in my opinion it’s one of the best sunrise view points in Limassol.
Stay hydrated when running in the Cyprus heat. There are many beach side cafes where you can buy a cold bottle of water if needed during your run, typically €0.50 to €1.
Safe? Considered very safe by day, but not recommended for lone female runners to be alone in this area at night.
